Born in Mardin in 1973, Dr. Mehmet Beşir Akpınar completed his primary and secondary education in Diyarbakır and graduated from Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine in 1997. After serving 15 months as a general practitioner in primary healthcare services in Mardin, he began his residency at İnönü University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery in 1999, completing his specialization in 2005.
Following his residency, Dr. Akpınar worked as a cardiac surgeon at İzmir Private Şifa Hospital and served as an Assistant Professor at Şifa University between 2013 and 2016. To further his expertise in aortic surgery, he served as an observer at renowned institutions in the United States, including the Texas Heart Institute, Memorial Hermann, and Methodist Hospitals. Subsequently, he practiced as a Cardiovascular Surgery Specialist at İzmir Atakalp Heart Hospital.
Dr. Akpınar spent five years as a Consultant Adult Cardiac and Aortic Surgeon at Al-Kafeel Superspeciality Hospital, one of Iraq’s most prestigious private medical institutions. During this tenure, he performed numerous pioneering aortic surgeries with high success rates and was honored with an award by the Turkish Embassy in Baghdad for his contributions. Upon returning to Turkey in 2021, he joined the Medical Park Antalya Hospital Complex, where he currently serves as an Adult Cardiac and Aortic Surgeon. Since 2005, he has performed over 4,500 cardiac and 2,500 peripheral vascular surgeries throughout his distinguished career.
